Confirm modem is bridged (bridge if necessary) and educate customer on potential issues that could impact speed

  1. Recommend the customer download a wifi optimization app such as WiFiman, WiFi Analyzer, Wi-Fi SweetSpots to check signal strength

  2. Changing their channel (typically 1,6 or 11 are best if 20 Mhz channel width)

  3. Understanding the top speed of the slowest device compared to the speed customer is paying for.
    • B (12 megabits)
    • G (54 megabits)
    • N (130 megabits)
    • AC (1000 megabits)

  4. Security mode– WPA or WPA2

  5. Encryption mode TV2GO - TKIP/AES
    • Internet – AES
    • Video only (ex MHN)– TKIP

  6. Note that WiFi is impacted by activity within/close by the home. (microwaves, cordless phones, etc)
